Oh. My. Word.
I cannot believe that they had me come into work an hour early for this!
We (all the management people) sat in a dark conference room and watched a video of a very poor Abe Lincoln impersonator telling us about communication. And trying to be funny and entertaining at the same time. An hour long video! Of a chubby tall guy with a plastic beard and hat, giving us mostly just a history of Lincoln’s life, interspersed with “funny anecdotes” and a list of ten essential communication skills.
The list of skills was great, normal communication stuff. But the actual information only made up about ten minutes of the time we spent sitting through an hour long history lesson talking about stuff we all learned in grade school.
Did you know that Abe Lincoln went to school in a one-room schoolhouse? And that his dad didn’t like him to read?
Anyway, if I get really inspired I might type up my notes from the video and put them on here, (yes I took notes, I always do, no matter how hideous the presentation or presenter) then you can learn to be a great communicator like Lincoln! Don’t count on my getting inspired.
I’ve decided to give out cyber-goodies to anyone who comments when they read my blog. I’ve noticed the same people back a few times but no one ever says anything. Good or bad. So I thought I’d take the approach used in the Tostitos commercial. (You know, “Tostitos and dip in the conference room.”) And try to bribe people to say something. Really, anything at all. Even if you hate me, and my blog. (I’m starved for attention.)
I wonder where one can find a nice selection of cyber-snacks? I’m a good cook, but I don’t know if I can whip up cyber-treats. I’ll have to look for some recipes.
